Here is the latest way to pray:
Qhochumi
Efrain and Jonathan are now in Qhochumi, continuing to story. Please pray that the guys have an un-interrupted trip, and that the members of the community memorize these stories quickly. We are very eager to tell the story of the cross. Pray that we can do that soon. Also, a key part of our strategy reproducibility. Pray that God begin to prepare an individual to be sent out from Qhochumi to share the same stories in a new area. We won’t leave Qhochumi until that happens.
The new guy
Jonathan is from North Carolina. We’ve been calling him “Gringasso” which means “huge gringo.” This is his first trip. Pray for strength and wisdom for him in this new environment. He will start the visa application process soon, as well as language school. Pray for those things.
Encouraging the churches
Javier and Roberto are on an “encouragement trip” where they will visit several remote churches who are desperate for someone to teach them. These are oral people who have only heard of a literate way to do church. So, as you can imagine, they are constantly discouraged. Pray for Roberto and Javier as they share 4 stories from the New Testament which each church. Pray that the believers be receptive and capture the stories, and that the Lord use them to empower the churches for His glory.
Ravelo
As we began thinking through the next zone of Chayanta we will engage, God began to lead us to a district known as Ravelo. We have begun making contacts in the area, and have a pretty good idea of which communities we will start in. Pray that God begin to prepare people in this area to hear His word.
Visa
We got em’! It only took about 11 months, but hey, they last for a year. You could go ahead and start praying for Dec 09 when we will have to re apply. That one should last 2 years.
The 88.2
- It has been estimated that less than 2% of the people that live in our province have ever heard the gospel—88,200 people. Pray that God prepare them to hear His word. Pray that they stay healthy and alive in order to hear.
I have started a study in 1&2 Thessalonians. I am so touched by Paul’s intense love for the people of Thessalonica. And I can’t help but think of your team as you begin to plan how you, too, can “…impart not only the gospel of God but also our own lives…” 1 Thess. 2:8 Then I saw a side of Paul that was, I guess, unexpected for me. His gentleness. I never really thought of Paul as being gentle, but there it is….”But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children.” 1 Thess. 2:7 It’s hard to imagine a man being as gentle as a nursing mother
but what a perfect picture of gentleness. So, I have started to pray for gentleness for you and all of your team. It’s a fruit that often times gets overlooked…but obviously is one of the keys to successful ministry. I love you guys. Please continue to tell us how we can pray for you.
