Saying that we trust God in this is easy - moving on is really hard. I will pray not only for the Qhochumi people, but for you too. I know that God loves them completely and wants them in his family, but while He is waiting on them you can plant more seeds.

I think the hardest part of witnessing for God is planting the seeds and trusting God to harvest when the time is right. Bless you! I am so proud of you and know that you are exactly where God wants you. (Although I think your mom might like to have Jack a little closer)

You are in my prayers! I will also pray for that the souls may be fertile in Ravelo!

I needed this devotional Kay! Holding each other accountable is so vital! Right now I'm experiencing something where trust has been violated and now I wonder who is truthful and who is not. Thanks again for your insight.

Ferrah, this is really fun to hear. It is amazing to think of how little we know about so many cultures around the world, even in our very well-educated culture. I often think about kids in the States who have it pretty hard, probably like a lot of the students you teach. I wish they could see the kids here who spend all day shining shoes or working out in the fields. I think it might change their perspective some.

Hey Kay

I love this entry. I use your blog all the time in my Geography class. I know that is strange to say because I teach at a very public school but through your blog my kids get to see close up a people group that no basic Geography book covers and their struggles and point of view. The last two entry have been perfect for what I am teaching right now. We are looking a culture and how cultures move from one place to the next and how people relate to other people with different cultures.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Ferrah

I'm not sure that there isn't something in our sinful human nature that tells us to dislike what is different from us. How else would we explain completely uncontacted tribes, who have never seen anyone other than their own, attacking anyone who is different from themselves? I would definitely agree that fear plays a huge part in it. But I think we have to work really hard to go against that nature to accept and love what is different from us. We don't naturally lean towards doing what is good, but we naturally lean towards doing what is evil. What else do we expect from people without Christ but the opposite of love?

Kay racisim and prejudice are not natural, just as hate is not natural. They are learned emotions. Rhonda is right, part of it is fear (or the unknown). When a baby is born it does not see color or any of those other attributes that "brand" us and cause prejudice, however, they soon learn prejudice and hate when they are taught it! Just keep loving them with all your heart and soul and let them see Jesus through you. I know that it is not easy. I have spent a large part of my life trying to combat prejudice in many forms. I have not been 100% effective, however, I have made a BIG difference. You and Trent and your team will also make a big difference. Just keep on keeping on! I shall continue to pray for you in this matter.

Racism is just another aspect of fear. Those kids may see that you are not going to eat them and trust you more because you are there to show them the Truth through loving them. I will continue to pray that the people will see your heart and not just your exterior.
