We’re headed out to Cochabamba tomorrow morning for about two months to take Quechua and wait for the baby. We’re pretty sad to leave here. Tonight we went to our place that’s like our Cheers. You know…where everybody knows your name. Right after we moved here, Sucre opened up a nice new supermarket that is also kind of a mini shopping center. It even has a food court (with pretty disgusting food) and a movie theater.
We go there all the time when we’re in town, even when we don’t need groceries. It kind of feels like something “normal” for us because it has a parking garage, something you don’t see too often around these parts, imported food, and little stores that you can go to if you want to be way overcharged.
So we talked to Luis, the parking guy who we always tip, something very rare here, and parked in our usual spot that he always gives us; Daniella, the college-aged girl who works at the airline office, who touched my belly and affectionately told me I was “immenso” (immense); and several other familiar faces at the checkout and around the store who have come to recognize us. It’s fun to have a place like this to come back to. We will miss that and all of our friends here.
I still have more to post about Finca Esquena but didn’t quite have the energy today. So stay tuned.
